the last and the worst

the last and the worst...

that's probably the most correct phrase to describe the condition of my lovely country experiencing right now. let's take monetary crisis as the 1st example. at the end of this year, monetary crisis has hit us for 10 years, not a short time, and seems we haven't found a way out from the crisis. the question: how many years are needed to set this country free for the nightmare of monetary crisis? some people might have forgotten that Indonesia was the last country in Southeast Asia hit by this frightening crisis, Malaysia and Thailand experienced it earlier. I still remember, Suharto, the president at that time, saying that we are safe enough from the crisis. but, when it was really hit us, we broke and down. US$ 1 became Rp 13000 when a minute before it was only Rp. 2000. IHSG (Index Harga Saham Gabungan) fell into less than 500. For next several years after monetary crisis, it was so difficult for IHSG to reach 600. today, IHSG climbed into 1900 and US$1 not more than Rp. 9500, are those enough progress to show that this country's condition is a lot better than 10 years ago when monetary crisis hit us for the 1st time? i say no. why? coz in eastern part of this country; from sulawesi, nusa tenggara to papua, there are still many people are dying because they don't have enough food to eat. the babies doesn't get proper nutrition to grow. how would this country able to wake up when its people still dying? second example is avian influenza (AI) caused by H5N1 Virus. when it was first attacked China and Vietnam couple years ago, our leader repeated the former leader speech, we are still safe enough. today, with 73 people died as a victim of deadly virus, making this country as the highest in the world in term of the number of victims, are we still confident to say that we are safe enough? just to reminds us once again, that this country is the last country in Asia attacked by H5N1 virus, and now just like monetary crisis, we are the worst. so now, how worst can we go after these?
